It became clear that ethical misconduct of AI systems and social robots are becoming a global issue. The ethical scandals of AI systems will not be limited to organizations, but also permeate public life. It is made abundantly clear by recent scandals involving politicians in the social media U.S. The use of Artificial Intelligence system for political misuse or misconducts must be under control. Harassment risks, political voter manipulation, favoritism and discrimination are the key areas of ethical AI systems.

The ethical AI systems Amit Ray Quotes

“The ethical AI systems must learn not discriminate and not to manipulate any one based on race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, marital status, genetic or medical information. Must understand its own misuse or misconduct limits and the recertification mechanisms.” — Amit Ray, Famous AI Scientist.

Artificial Intelligence and Ethics

The role of AI in social relations, political campaign, economic relation, labor relations, public relations, and organizational behavior are to be designed and analyzed from a moral viewpoint. Voter sentiment analysis is considered one of the most popular category of machine learning and natural language processing used by the social media analysts.

Moral decisions are made by everyone daily. When a driver chooses to slam on the brakes to avoid hitting a jaywalker, they are making the moral decision to shift risk from the pedestrian to the people in the car. That is why UNESCO has embarked for the first time to develop a legal and global document on the ethics of AI.

Artificial Moral Agents

Machine ethics, machine morality, is the field of research concerned with designing Artificial Moral Agents (AMAs), robots or artificially intelligent computers that behave morally or as though moral.

“One of the key algorithms of compassionate artificial intelligence is Mother-Infant Inter-brain Synchrony algorithm, which mimics the brain-to-brain synchrony of gaze, facial expressions, touch and heart rhythms of mother and child.” ― Amit Ray, Pioneer of Compassionate AI Movement.

The Ethical use of AI

Ethical misconduct AI systems means unacceptable behavior or conduct. While ‘ethics’ is circumscribed as all human action aimed at securing a good life. The AI systems need to know how to make ethical decisions and behave appropriately. They also need to know how misconduct is defined and be aware of the different types of misconduct they might encounter — and it’s in the human’s best interest to teach them.

The ethical issues of AI in surveillance go beyond pattern matching, or mere accumulation of data and direction of attention: They include the use of information to manipulate behavior, online and offline, in a way that undermines autonomous rational choice.

For example, the autonomous car must also undertake a considerable amount of training in order to understand the data it is collecting and to be able to make the right decision in any imaginable traffic situation.

AI Based Political Manipulation

New research has found that AI system based social media manipulation is getting worse, with rising numbers of governments and political parties across the world are making cynical use of social media algorithms, automation and big data to manipulate public opinion at large scale. This is hugely worrying implications for democracy.

Harassment and Imbalanced Relationships

Harassment risks of the AI systems due to imbalanced relationships apply to supervisors and managers need to keep their relationships on the right side of the law. If a social robots can develop a close friendship with one employee it can lead to favoritism or even worse, discrimination.

Favoritism and Discrimination

Speaking of discrimination, the AI systems must be aware that it’s illegal to discriminate a person based on color, religion, gender, genetics or medical information. For example, if Tracey gets tested and finds out she has the breast cancer gene, the AI systems can not use that information to force her to change from a full-time schedule to a part-time schedule.

Final Thoughts

It’s therefore imperative for the new to AI system developers to arm their AI systems with ethical behavior or conduct to enable the systems to judge critically about the junk being pushed to them by the users. Harassment risks, political manipulation, favoritism and discrimination are the key areas of future ethical AI systems.
